Abstract

Distance education institutions have taken the responsibility to train the teacher educators who can in turn train the teachers in teacher training institutes. But doubts about the quality of teacher education programmes at master’s level through distance mode persist. The present studywas conducted to find out the perceptions of Panjab University students enrolled in Master of Education (M.Ed.) through distance learning mode regarding various quality indicators related to the course. The results highlighted that quality of study material need to be improved and study material to be prepared in Hindi and Punjabi language also. Personal contact programme need to be organized as per the ease of participants. Infrastructural facilities in classrooms, library and psychological laboratory need to be revamped for effective academic transactions. Provisions of e-submission of assignments and e-assessment need to be explored for making the system of internal evaluation more transparent and for providing timely feedback to students for work assignments.
