Sex Difference in Counseling Needs: A Study Among Adolescents

Adolescence is the “Age of change and challenges”. Adolescents are the representatives of the tenderest age group that needs attention. For the psychological wellbeing of the adolescents there is a need of counseling. The young teens need the counseling in every facet of their life. Lessening of adult authority, maternal employment and change of traditional family pattern increase problems for the youth. An adolescent who needs both educational and emotional support at this juncture is left unattended. The aim of the present investigation was to study the Counseling Needs of adolescents. A sample of 120 respondents was selected. The Psychological counseling Need Scale (PCNS) was used. Data were analyzed using t test. It was found that there is no significant difference between the response of male and female adolescents.
