Abstract

Note taking skill is one of the most important study skills. It helps the students to recall the information and ideas provided by a teacher in class. It has positive effect on students’ memory as well as academic achievement of students. In the present study the researcher aims to study the level of note taking skill among the secondary level students of DakshinDinajpur District, West Bengal. The researcher adopted the survey method for the study. Many previous studies revealed the importance of the note taking skill for the students. Note Taking Skill Questionnaire (NTSQ) was constructed and standardized by the researcher. Data were collected from 150 students studying in class X. The result of the study indicates that secondary level students have the average note taking skill. Significant difference is observed between Higher and Medium Achiever, Higher and LowerAchiever in their note taking skill but no significant difference is observed between Medium and LowerAchiever in their note taking skill.
