General Mental Alertness of Different Sociometric Groups among Secondary School Students

The present study aimed at investigating “general mental alertness” of different sociometric groups among secondary school students”. The sample initially consisted of 2000 secondary school students (girls) of Aligarh district. After that through simple random sampling, four sociometric categories i.e., Populars(100), Neglectees(100), isolates(100) and rejectees(100) participants were drawn and taken as the final research subject. The test developed by Sharma (1970) was used for drawing sociometric categories. To study general mental alertness among these sociometric categories, the test developed by Kumari and Bano(2013) was used . The finding of the research indicated that Significant difference on the variable of general mental alertness was found among different sociometric groups namely, populars, neglectees, isolates, and rejectees and a Significant difference was found on the variable of general mental alertness between the groups of populars and neglectees ,populars and isolates and populars and rejectees. Mean value of populars(19.32) is more than neglectees(17.31), isolates(16.85) and rejectees (17.31).
