Gender Difference in Computer Phobia Levels of Senior Secondary School Teachers

Abstract

This study examined the phobia of senior secondary school teachers for using computer. Current research seeks to understand weather gender and types of school is a factor that should be considered when considering teaching staff’s fear towards using computer. Survey methodology is facilitated through the use of the questionnaires. The survey domain is a random sampling of teaching staff in senior secondary schools from Sonepat, Haryana. The population for this study was 200 teachers. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the schools and random sampling to select the desired sample. The results showed that there is no difference between being a male or a female as regard to computer phobia among senior secondary school teachers. This study also depicted that the types of school is not differ significantly for measuring the phobia of senior secondary school teachers for using computer. The result of this research has significant implications to senior secondary school teachers when they plan, develop and adopt the curriculum of computer thus; senior secondary school teachers have to consider that teaching staff’s fear toward computer is not related to their gender and types of schools.
