Abstract

Tribal clans’ are the original habitant of Tripura and are predominantly habitual with the living standard that is located in the hilly and forest areas. Their wellbeing is indispensable for the development of their academic performance and living standard as well. The signs of wellbeing are the good living conditions like happy, healthy, prosperity and life satisfaction of the people. Therefore the present study is undertaken to know the well-being of Tribal students and its relationship with their academic performance in rural areas of Tripura. All the secondary level tribal students of Tripura are considered as the population of this study. The participants were 300(150 girls and 150 boys) secondary level Tribal students and they were selected randomly. A Well-Being Index Scale constructed by V. L. Chauhan and Varsha Sharma was used to collect data. The collected data were analyzed by various descriptive and inferential statistical techniques like Mean, Median, SD, T-Test, chi-square and Pearson’s Correlation. Result shows that the academic achievements of Tribal students are intensely influenced by their Well-Being and there is a significant relationship between well-being and their academic performance. The findings of the research will be a great way-out for the improvement of the Education system of rural areas in Tripura.
