Internet Affinity and Big Five Personality Factors

Abstract

Present study explored the relationship of Big Five personality factors with Internet Addiction among 200 students of Himachal Pradesh University (H.P.U) within the age range of 21-30 years. Data were analyzed in terms of Correlation and Regression analysis. Results revealed that Big-Five has contributed 23% of variance in males, with extraversion explaining the highest variance (11%), followed by Neuroticism (6%) and Openness (6%). In females’ sample, Agreeableness explained the maximum variance (11%) followed by Extraversion (9%). Further, Extraversion came out to be the common predictor in both the genders.
