Communication Practice and Personality Pattern among Doctors: A Correlational Study

Abstract

This study finds the relationship between doctors communication practice and personality pattern. Communication plays a key role in the success of any medical setup to understand the patients’ ailments and problem and provide them best care. Personality determines the level of communication practice in doctors. There are five dimensions of the personality. Each dimension is uniquely related with the communication practice. To show the relationship between communication practice and personality pattern, 80 doctors were taken as subject in this study and correlation between their communication practice and personality pattern were computed using the Pearson Correlation Method. It was found that effective communication style bears a positive relationship with the compliant, conscientiousness and agreeableness.
