Identifying Stress Symptoms among Teacher of Preschool Children: Role of Gender and Ethnicity

The purpose of the study was to find out the symptoms of stress in relation to gender and ethnicity. 2X3 factorial design was used on 150 respondents in terms of gender, 75 respondents were male and 75 respondents were female. In terms of ethnicity, 58 respondents were Malays, 37 were Chinese and rest 55 were Indians. The age of the respondents was between 25-50 years. All respondents belong to the urban area of Kuala Lumpur. The results showed insignificant mean differences between male and female teachers of preschool children on the mental and emotional physical, social and spiritual dimensions of stress symptoms. ANOVA results indicated there is no significant differences found among the Malay, Chinese and Indian on all dimensions of stress related symptoms.
