Abstract

The study aims to standardize one subtest of Snigders-Oomen Nonverbal Intelligence Battery (SON-R 5.5-17) (Snijders, Tellegen & Laros,
1989) for deaf children in the Sultanate of Oman, the Patterns Subtest,
and to obtain norms for different chronological ages. The reliability and
validity of the subtest are investigated using different types of evidence.
The Patterns subtest of the battery was administered to a sample of 312
deaf students from ages 6 to 17 years old in different schools around the
Sultanate for developing the required norms. The study concludes the
applicability of the Patterns subtest to measure intelligence for deaf
students in the Sultanate.
