Present Educational Structure in Reputed Universities of Kolkata: A SWOT Analysis

The aim of the present investigation is to carry out a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis on the students of the reputed Universities of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. To conduct this study, purposive sampling technique has been employed. Data was collected from 3 groups of total 300 students from 3 different streams of subjects (Pure science, Humanities & Social science). The students were asked to reflect on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of their department as they perceive in their educational setting. The data was collected using SWOT analysis form and Garrett Ranking Method was used for the calculations. From this study, significant internal and external factors that influences the strategic planning and decisionmaking processes within institutions were obtained. Therefore, SWOT analysis can be proven to be an effective educational tool.
