Successful Aging in relation to Spiritual Transcendence

Abstract

Successful aging is a multifaceted construct which includes a lot of factors like social connectedness, happiness, personal resources, self-efficacy, and well-being etc. Spiritual transcendence is also one of the factors which can contribute in the process of successful aging. The present study examined the relationship between spiritual transcendence and successful aging. The sample selected for the study was 100 older adults with the age range of 60 years and above. The tools used for the study were: Successful Aging Scale by Reker (2009) and Spiritual Transcendence Scale by Reker (2003). The data was analyzed using correlational analysis. The result showed that spiritual transcendence is significantly and positively correlated with successful aging. The results have been discussed at length in the paper.
