Abstract

In the present day class rooms, knowledge is being constructed rather than memorizing and understanding. The development of Educational Technology had brought tremendous changes in the Teaching – learning process. Students can access whatever information they needed within a short span of time. The role of Teacher as a producer of knowledge have changed to teacher as a facilitator or a stage – setter. Student – centered classroom gives ample space and time for student activities. Present study tried to analyze the needs of secondary school students regarding science teaching and learning. A sample of 305 students of eighth, ninth and tenth class from government schools of Kerala were administered 21 item self-constructed need analysis questionnaire. The needs analysis helps in formulating necessary solutions for the felt issues in the field of science teaching and learning process, which will result in better achievement.
