Emotional Intelligence and Subjective Happiness Among Informatics Assistants Working in Government Organizations

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is an ability of an individual to recognize their own and other’s emotion, to discriminate between different feelings and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior. Happiness is a subjective feeling, difficult to measure than expression. The present study was an attempt to explore relation between emotional intelligence and subjective happiness among informatics assistants (IA) along with gender differences. The data were collected on 50 IA (Informatics Assistant) working in different government organization of Rajasthan state. The participants were selected through purposive sampling. Emotional Intelligence test (EIT) and subjective happiness scale were administered to all the participants. Mean, SD, Pearson correlation and t-test were used to analyze the data.Results revealed significant positive relation between emotional intelligence and subjective happiness. Male and female informatics assistant did not differ in their subjective happiness and emotional intelligence
