Relationship of Achievement Motivation with Family Environment

The objective of this study was to determine the relationship of achievement motivation with family environment in adolescents. A sample of 500 (250 male and 250 female) adolescents in the age group of 14-21 years was selected. The measures of achievement motivation and family environment were administered. Pearson Product Moment correlation was used to examine the relationship pattern of achievement motivation and family environment. Findings revealed significant positive correlations of achievement motivation with cohesion, independence and other dimensions of family environment whereas negative correlation was observed with conflict. The pattern was almost similar for males and females.
